I am a member of the NZ Army Territorial Force, as a Rifleman with the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, 5/7 Battalion based in Napier. I received 7 weeks of basic training in Waiouru over the summer of 2012-13, and currently hold the rank of Private. Training is on a part-time basis, mostly weekends, with other ceremonial parades such as ANZAC day, and optional longer courses (1-2 weeks). Deference is given to full-time employment.
