Operated as line supervisor over operations team during plant startup, modifications, and subsequent operation. Trained new personnel to commission, test, and operate new state-of-the-art alternative fuels facility. Operated all aspects of new facility, including logistics, receiving, commercial truck driving, distributed control system, processing, and product distribution. Coordinated shifts of up to eight hourly process technicians while operating plant via DCS in control room. Oversaw high pressure/high temperature pre-hydrolysis and thermal conversion of poultry offal into high-grade fatty acid product, fertilizer (liquid and dry mineral). Functioned as process engineer at El Dorado for first eight months. Supervised up to 21 hourly and salaried employees in operations department; remained on call 24-hours. Managed production of carbon black through safety management, budget tracking, material and resource scheduling, labor relations, environmental and regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and capital planning and implementation. Served as acting plant manager as needed. Negotiated two new labor contracts as part of corporate team representing plant. Tracked and analyzed key performance metrics and formed successful action plans for improvement. Promoted safety culture and QS-9000 certification.

Performed troubleshooting and process research and development for several of company’s North American mills as wet-end chemist. Served as first line supervisor on fine paper machines at Mobile beginning in 1983. Supervised 14 hourly employees on No.’s 3, 5, and 6 paper machines. Trained operators in process control computer systems and startup protocols following $350,000,000 paper mill expansion and reconfiguration.
