Charles Christopher is now happily retired and loving it. Still mentoring budding entrepreneurs and watching CCUS come into its own. Just hope we don't kill the patient in the process. Charles Christopher was Sr VP - Business Development at PI-Innovation, Inc. He was primarily responsible for commercializing a new technology that can remove CO2 from exhaust gas at prices comparable to the CO2 EOR selling price in West Texas.He recently retired as CEO of Ultimate EOR Services in Austin, Texas. Ultimate is a spinoff company being created from work at the University of Texas at Austin in the laboratories of Prof. Gary Pope. Charles retired from BP where he was involved in CO2 sequestration and enhanced oil recovery issues globally. Charles has over 40 years industry experience in all phases of enhanced oil recovery and is considered an international expert in the area. He was co-leader of the Sequestration, Monitoring, and Verification team of the CO2 Capture Project, an international joint industry project and managed a number of specific projects on that team. He initiated and chaired international networks in association with the International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas Program.Prior to the work in CO2 capture and storage, Charles was Technology Project Manager for Gas Injection EOR for 4 years at BP which had the responsibility to develop technology for the business units to enable them to enhance the profitability of miscible gas injection worldwide (CO2 and hydrocarbon gas). Prior to that, he headed the Amoco Thermal Recovery group in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has experience in all phases of enhanced oil recovery, including polymer and surfactant, miscible gas – including CO2, and thermal processes. Charles was also a member of the Amoco Environmental Research Group in Tulsa. Charles’ responsibility was the development of oil spill technology, particularly dispersants based on his surfactant EOR expertise. Prior to moving to Amoco, Charles was at the Texaco R&D facility in Bellaire, Texas. Charles was primarily in charge of the development of polymer flooding technology
