At Voyage, I led the early design and implementation of a teleoperations system for the company's autonomous taxi fleet. This system allows operators to remotely assist vehicles and customers in a safe manner while collecting valuable insights into the capabilities of the vehicle and its software, accelerating the ability to deliver on the promise of self-driving vehicles in a responsible manner.

- Principal software engineer for Trident, the reliable, low-cost, and intuitive observation class ROV that served as the catalyst for the consumer underwater drone industry- Developed a distributed software framework to enable the design of interconnected vehicles, sensors, and client devices for Marine Intelligence applications, built on top of Connext DDS- Developed a reliable, low-latency video streaming and recording architecture for Trident's custom HD camera- Performed embedded system part selection and validation, and developed all firmware for embedded systems running on Trident- Developed a custom motor control system for ROVs that leverages Field Oriented Control theory which enables extremely slow operation of brushless DC motors, as well as efficient and robust operation at high speeds- Prototyped Virtual Reality interfaces for OpenROV's drones which incorporated the vehicle's real-time video streams

- A small video game studio that I started with a friend which produced two titles, 9th Dawn and 9th Dawn II, between 2012 and 2017 for Android, iOS, and PC- Over 100,000 copies sold across all platforms- Worked on the development of the core game engine shared between the two projects, written in C++

- Designed and implemented a distributed software architecture and development framework for rapidly prototyping heterogeneous, multi-agent robotic systems using RTI Connext DDS- Integrated and implemented the software and ideas of several NASA researchers, each with their own expertise in different aspects of autonomous aerial flight systems.- Helped other team members develop their projects and work them into the context of the vehicles

- Supported the design and fabrication of advanced, novel sensors for industrial, aerospace, and military applications by developing both front end and embedded software for the devices.- Primarily involved in the development of front-end software for the FOCIS™ fiber optic blade-tip timing and clearance data capture unit, which provided high data-rate measurements of turbine blade performance characteristics.- Worked on the initial embedded software for the DSPs used in a new sensor being developed by the company- Helped to stabilize and improve the performance of existing software

- Worked on the SAGE III project (Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment), a spectrometry instrument that is installed on the ISS which is capable of measuring the gas contents of Earth's atmosphere.- Upgraded legacy hardware and software systems for the Test Occultation Interface (the benchtop version of the SAGE III instrument) to run on modern hardware and operating systems- Designed a new user interface and backend for the Test Occultation Interface- Supported scientists by developing tools, scripts, and visualization/data processing software to analyze data from the instrument- Supported in code reviews of other software systems in the project
