It's time to build!Working on some very ambitious plans to bring the power of machine learning, optimization, search and robotics, also called AI, to the process of designing and building homes.As always, I'm trying to find places where focused application of new technologies can have big impacts in the real world. Housing and construction are overdue for productivity improvements and we have some really exciting new tools to apply.

Fox Robotics built the first automated forklift capable of unloading trailers.In five years Fox grew from 1 to 70+ people, raised $17M from top tier VCs, earned $6M in revenue, deployed 25 forklifts to 13 warehouses, moved 450,000 pallets and caused 0 injuries.I built the early versions of the perception, mapping, localization, simulation, logging and sensor systems and contributed to the navigation and safety systems. I hired the founding team and oversaw the growth of our engineering, manufacturing, sales, finance, data labeling, HR and facility teams.

Working on cloud, simulation and learning technologies to make current robot use cases easier and new robot use cases possible.I spent the last year helping to build KUKA.Connect, an IOT style platform for KUKA robots. With that launched I'm now building two new teams: one using deep reinforcement learning for robot control and one to build the next generation of robot application development tools.

I led a team responsible for core perception, planning, navigation and cloud infrastructure libraries including algorithms for SLAM, Monte Carlo localization, global localization, path planning, trajectory planning, state estimation, visual inertial odometry, visual odometry, object detection, object localization, behavior trees and hierarchical state machines.In this role I've been actively researching the market and technical risks for robotic products and applications in logistics, construction, service and manufacturing.

Mountain View, Ca

Built out the technology, tools and infrastructure to collect and serve 3D imagery on Google Shopping, Google.com, and external sites.Founding and lead engineer of YouTube Slam, a feature for finding talent at scale that combined machine learning and crowdsourcing. I designed and implemented the data store, new active ranking algorithms, the backend service and the frontend on top of Google and YouTube infrastructure.

I researched autonomous driving systems and personal robotics. As part of our collaborations with Stanford I contributed the perception module for Stanford driving team's autonomous vehicle.The lab was awarded a PR2 robotic platform. It was one of 11 robots given out and the only one given to a non-academic institution.I also supervised research assistants and contributed to Bosch's personal robotics strategic planning

Developed JavaScript/AJAX based dynamic timeline for displaying temporal events

I worked in Stanford's AI Lab on precision localization using cameras in autonomous vehicles. The end goal was cars that can drive themselves. I'm still pursuing that goal in my current work.

I was an intern in the PSO department. I worked on projects to help maximize revenue from advertising partners. As part of that work I developed a system for visualizing high-dimensional hierarchical data and learned a half dozen open and propriety technologies in about four weeks.

Principal developer for two document management products (FileConvert and FilePDF). Worked on product design, implementation, testing, maintenance and support (it was a startup!)

I worked in the BYU Machine Learning lab under Dan Ventura. I investigated transfer learning, meta-learning, semi-supervised learning and kernels for support vector machines.
