Graduate Of Architecture
Freelance Architectural Assistant
I had the pleasure Working alongside Ehdo Director, Dave Delahunty, on one of his current projects as a freelance assistant.nI was tasked with 3D modeling a design and creating renders for both he and his clients. My work introduced a new medium for the architect and client to view the design and decide how to further develop it. I created a number of iterations as design aspects evolved and changed, each time meeting tight deadlines and progressing the model to a higher level of detail. I have found this work to be invaluable and I have learned a lot about what professional standards are expected when providing work for both clients and architects.
Architectural Assistant
After completing my internship at Mt Eyk, I was offered employment to conduct bushfire research into the vulnerable aspects of the site for a current project. I had to research design standards and how they would apply to the project so that it could progress in a bushfire prone area. These experiences provided additional experience in project planning and analysis as well as further appreciate the level of work expected in an architectural office.
Intern
I had the pleasure of working under the Mt Eyk Director, Emily Van Eyk at her studio in Fremantle. I joined as an intern in collaboration with the University of Western Australia and was able to gain valuable experience into the inner working of a professional architectural office. My roles included completing initial design research on a project in its early stages. I also worked on initial precedent research, detailing a masterplan and concept analysis. This work included extensive research into local government databases, environmental factors and modeling up different ideas for how a design could sit on the site while having the least impact on the natural surroundings. This experience gave me a clear understanding into the early stages of project development in both research and design.
Prosh Director
Organising and coordinating the annual PROSH; a day where UWA students go out onto the streets of Perth to sell a satirical newspaper to the public to raise money for a number of charities. This multifaceted role included the hiring of an executive team, managing funds and organizing logistics. Leading the PROSH committee required good communication with several government and university departments which gave me valuable experience in developing business relationships. PROSH has also developed my skills in time management as the role required undertaking a variety of tasks that needed to be balanced with my university studies.
Residential Advisor
Member of the staffing body at University Hall, UWA. I worked as a mentor and point of contact to provide pastoral care and wellbeing support to college residents. I was also in charge of organising activities and learning initiatives for residents in my care. I was trained in project management and conflict resolution to better undertake these roles. This job also necessitated that I work in close proximity with my superiors as well as students. This allowed me to strengthen my communication skills and experience in respecting confidentiality in a work environment.
Intercollege Representative
I sat on the Residential Student’s Department as a representative from University Hall, UWA. This is the body that represents over 2000 college students, across five colleges. My role was to act on behalf of the University Hall Resident’s Club and over 700 residents at meetings and professional functions. I would raise any issues on behalf of the collage and work to see an outcome achieved. I worked to maintain positive relationships between University Hall and the other colleges and foster team building.
