I oversee the operational accounting and reporting for Securities, Treasury, Early Lender Funding, and Multifamily Loans. These workstreams cover a wide range of assets, liabilities, and derivative positions and are responsible for consolidation of Trust activity and hedge accounting. These books represent $4.5T of Fannie Mae's total balance sheet. The team consists of 35 accountants. In this role, I am also responsible for large system implementations and improvements related to our areas.

Managed the derivative risk management, securities investment, hedge and corporate debt accounting for Fannie Mae. Responsible for major concurrent implementations for new products and systems, including collateral management, general ledger, LIBOR migration, and hedge accounting. These responsibilities include requirements development, controls analysis, audit management, disclosures and reporting.

Manage general accounting functions; scope of management includes personnel, monthly accounting close activities and compliance with financial controls. Oversee the completion of timely and accurate analysis of financial results, financial position and financial trends, including the preparation of a monthly segment financial reporting package. Oversight of legal entity results and financial position and supporting the financial reporting team with appropriate documentation for legal entity filings and audits. Review externally reported segment financial information, including quarterly and annual financial reports filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Direct the activities of Centers of Excellence, cross-segment accounting teams. Manage segment SOX testing and support of internal and external audits and reviews as well as ad hoc regulatory or compliance requirements. Business partner to segment executive management and business unit management, including onboarding new clients and segment initiatives. Partner with tax and treasury teams on relevant tax and cash management requirements.During this time, I oversaw the team's transition from MS Dynamics to Oracle Fusion General Ledger and the move from De Facto reporting solution to Oracle SmartView. I also introduced lean management practices to improve communication and better manage demand and capacity with the team. Standard work documentation of processes improved understanding and execution of close.

In this role, I was jointly responsible for the $2.5+ trillion single family performing loan book accounting production and finance transformation of the performing loan space. This included monthly close, financial statement disclosure preparation, regulatory filing preparation, and overseeing an 18 person production team. With regard to finance transformation, I was responsible for reviewing and approving the accounting conversion at adoption and transitioning the team onto the new platform.

Co-managed accounting side of front-to-back securities accounting system replacement (implementing SimCorp). Managed three teams (Amortization / Impairment / Principal and Interest) consisting of a total of 15 people through requirement developments and testing stages of software deployment. Managed project-wide resourcing, including external contractors. Addressed technical and operational issues as they arose to move forward with agile system rollout. Oversaw budgets for various areas and participated in project-wide decisioning on strategy and tactical approach.

Focused primarily on financial instrument accounting and standard setting in the Capital Markets space at Fannie Mae. Recent consultations have also covered pension, income tax, real estate sales, software, and real property accounting.

Managed policy team in Americas region. Provided transaction support to front and back office, interpreting impact of various structures on UBS and clients. Technical work included derivative accounting, a business divestment, a business acquisition, loan securitization, consolidation, impairment, derecognition. Assisted front office with deal structuring advice.

Managed policy team in APAC region. Provided transaction support to front and back office, interpreting impact of various structures on UBS and clients. Technical work included equity financing, derivative accounting, consolidation, business combinations, impairment, provisions, derecognition, disclosure analysis, revenue recognition and accounting change implementation. Assisted front office with deal structuring advice.

Prepared memoranda of technical accounting interpretations. Reviewed and commented on new and amended accounting proposals at FASB and IASB. Covered financial instrument classification, measurement, hedge accounting, and impairment. Presented accounting updates and guidance to senior executives on US GAAP and IFRS. Led implementation of effective interest method application (EITF 99-20 equivalent) at UBS AG. Developed implementation and application guidance related to IFRS 9, Financial Instruments, addressing accounting, disclosure and transition issues. Managed group-wide impact assessment of IFRS 9 early adoption.

Provided technical interpretation and support for member banks. Analyzed technical accounting guidance and provided feedback to standard setters. Coordinated and hosted technical accounting discussions with bank executives on the ABA Accounting Committee. Presented throughout US on technical accounting relevant to financial institutions. Lobbied standard setters, legislators, and federal banking and securities regulators (FDIC, OCC, OTC, Federal Reserve and the SEC) on behalf of banks in accounting and internal control matters.

Provided tax compliance and consulting services for small to medium-sized corporations, individuals, partnerships, and fiduciaries. Responsibilities included transaction structuring, compliance, and planning. Managed multiple client engagements.
