Born and raised in Northern New York's beautiful Adirondack region, my love for the natural world grew with each passing year. Through hiking, fishing, hunting and camping adventures, along with hearing stories from my elders, I gained a deep reverence and desire, that led me on this path, to preserve and protect my beloved homeland. Through my works in photography and writing, my hopes are to change the hearts and minds of those that seek to threaten the fragile balance between wild spaces and development. Greed, and a lack of sound environmental practices, will be the undoing of this pristine habitat, that so many enjoy every year, unless "we the people" stand up to those who are blinded by greed."May my work bring peace and balance to you, while you're living your hectic and often stressful lives. The Adirondacker was founded by Adirondack Photographer/WriterCharles Henry Eldridge Our mission here at The Adirondacker is first and foremost to be a voice of preservation and protection for the 2.6 million acres of state-owned forever wild lands and it's inhabitants. The Adirondack Park is a very unique and special place, where a mix of public and privately owned lands coexist. The balance between these lands, for the most part, remains harmonious, but occasionally political, social or economic issues arise, that can put a strain on that balance. The Adirondack Park is an experiment, if you will, that many are watching. We understand that the park's main industry is tourism, and that is what helps make it so special. Millions travel to inside the Blue Line every year, to feel those senses of wonderment and awe, that this region has been known for since the first indigenous people came here. These visitors help support the park's economy through their activities, so it is also our mission here at The Adirondacker to be a guide for those visiting The Adirondack Region of Northern New York, as well as for those that live here, by providing information about "All Things Adirondack"!We believe that we can maintain that balance between our world and the natural world, as long as we can retain our common sense, listen and act upon creative and innovative ideas and always keep the reins tight on ego and greed.
