My interest in law stemmed from the lead up to the 2016 election, in which conversations about criminal justice reform captivated my then 14 year old self. Since then I’ve become involved in criminal justice reform at the local and individual level, working with prisoners seeking exoneration. With my interests focused around politics and law, and more specifically, how these two institutions affect those in underserved communities, I’ve taken to the idea of becoming an attorney. With strong communication skills and an interest in writing analytically, presenting has always come naturally to me, and would serve me well as a future criminal defense attorney.Further, with a childhood revolving around team sports, I’ve always known the team is bigger than any player and value letting others take the lead when they have greater expertise or experience in the matter. As someone who never accepts an answer at face value and has little fear of being wrong, I’m passionate about giving those underserved by the system equal respect in the eyes of the law.
