Developed Engine Management Sysytems (EMS) algorithms for heated tip injectors for cold starting on ethanol.Developed EMS algorithms and hardware for Gasoline Direct Injection (GDi) engines (Pump and pump noise reduction). Wrote requirements for IDM2 controller to drive GDi injectors and pump for production program. Performed systems integration with engine controllers on engines including DSF engines. Designed and tested new control algorithms for Gasoline Direct Injection Engines, and advanced valve train.Lead a DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) project for direct injection systems.Worked on several problem solving teams to tackle complex engine control issues.

Interpreted, and communicated customer requirements to product and test teams. Helped integrate products in vehicle systems. Provided problem solving support for vehicle/powertrain systems and warranty issues.Developed electronic controller systems for testing, and demonstrating products on customer engines, and in vehicles. Supported the following products: Throttle Bodies, ETC, Cam Phasers, EGR Valves, Fuel Pressure Regulators, and Fuel Injection Systems.

Specified and designed custom test equipment including component driver boxes, and instrumentation for in-vehicle use for product development of engine management systems. This included PCB design and software development.Maintained and updated existing test equipment to adapt to changing test needs. Supported all Electronics Lab, functions, and other Facilities projects.

Developed Stepper Motor Cruise Control for automotive customers (GM and other).Calibrated Stepper Motor Cruise Control on several vehicle platforms.Designed, built and utilized vehicle instrumentation for Cruise Control. Acted as engineering contact for cruise control customers. Member of Cruise Control, and Instrumentation COE's. (Centers Of Expertise) Participated in pilot drive reviews, and calibration development trips.Worked directly with customers to apply new stepper motor cruise control systems to many types of vehicles (cars, trucks, and motorcycles). My responsibilities spanned from gathering, writing and interpreting requirements, through calibrating the cruise control on the vehicle, to participating in pilot vehicle buy-off rides, and supporting any problem solving projects related to stepper motor cruise control.

Held various positions in different engineering roles to get a wide exposure to the automotive manufacturing industry during a 5 year co-op program and what was then called GMI. Applied for the first of my awarded patents while still in college. Gained valuable experience in manufacturing as well as research and development.
