Charles Jennings is a writer, entrepreneur and national AI expert. He recently retired as a Senior Fellow at The Atlantic Council, where he focused on national and international AI policy. From 2013-17 he led an AI project partnered with Caltech and JPL. Jennings is a recipient of the prestigious lifetime achievement award of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. In 2007 was named by Federal Computing Week as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Government technology. He has written seven books, including "Artificial Intelligence: Rise of the Lightspeed Learners" (Rowman & Littlefield 2019) and "The Hundredth Window: Protecting Your Privacy and Security on the Internet" (Simon & Schuster, 2000). Other writing includes tech-related op eds for the Washington Post and LA Times, and a feature story for Politico Magazine on government regulation of AI.Jennings is an experienced and entertaining public speaker. Major presentations include his TEDx talk, “From Armadillos to Monkeys”; a keynote at the UN 50th Anniversary Conference on the Declaration of Human Rights in Toulouse, France; and numerous high-tech conference keynotes. In October 2024, Jennings will present his new "Legends of AI" talk at a national AI conference on AI ethics, hosted by the University of Portland.
