The Lab trains Computer Science and Information Systems students to research and create technological solutions that solve local and global challenges. Current role as a graduate research assistant at C4DLab (Computing for Development Lab)includes responsibilities such as: Conducting literature review on assigned projects; Undertaking quantitative and qualitative research including interviews and observation; Statistical analysis and interpretation of research data using statistical software such as SPSS; Providing advice on research and development options available at the lab; Recording, analyzing and reporting the results of the field studies; Preparing and presenting findings of research activity to colleagues for review purposes; Preparation of grant progress reports; Contributing to the preparation and drafting of research bids and proposals; Development and dissemination of research outputs; Writing for different public audiences, as well as contributing to publications.

This project examined the expectations and stated potentials of broadband Internet in East Africa and compares those expectations to on-the-ground effects that broadband connectivity is having.For more information about the project http://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/research/projects/?id=59I coordinated the development of case-studies, surveys, interviews and in-depth observations in Kenya and Rwanda. Other tasks I performed include: Conducting content and discourse analysis of documents and websites pertaining to the effects of the East African fibre-optic cables published by international agencies, government agencies, representatives of the tea, tourism and BPO industries, and local and international media; Coordinating the activities of the local team with those of international collaborators; Conducted interviews with key informants in the public and private sectors that have influenced broadband policy in Kenya; Managing and overseeing activities of the local team, disseminating project information and producing technical documentation; Travelling to international conferences and research visits in other institutions; Assisted in literary research and review for meta-analysis; Conducted qualitative data analysis using NVivo, ATLAS ti for coding textual and open-ended survey responses; Data coding, data entry, transcribing, data analysis and assistance with writing up reports; Ensuring the validity and reliability of data at all times; Developing project portal and using blogs and other social media to share project results; Developing policy briefs for stakeholder meetings; Producing regular reports for donors.

I was contracted by the Simba Technology Ltd to develop, enhance, support and maintain various software tools and custom applications used by the DFCU Bank Uganda. These software tools and applications are used to create and publish financial research for the clients of DFCU Bank. Projects and tasks I performed include: Developed and maintained software using software development processes; Performed designer and integration testing of software for defects; Composed design and test documentation; Participated on inspection teams as reader and recorder for review and approval of documents and code; Reviewed requirements, identified resources needed for testing, identified intra-feature and inter-feature requirements tests; Assisted in the authoring of requirements and test plans, wrote and executed test scripts to verify correctness at the feature level.
