Charles L. Dibble has a business-oriented law practice with a strong emphasis on the structuring of transactions, negotiations with lenders, and commercial real estate. A native of Sumter, South Carolina, he studied at the Université de Paris à la Sorbonne and received his B.A. degree from Davidson College. He worked for several years in Paris, first with the Paris edition of the New York Herald Tribune, then at the international headquarters of the French news agency, Agence France-Presse. Subseqeuntly, he spent four years in various editorial capacities with Kayhan International, an English-language daily in Tehran. Returning to his home in South Carolina, he obtained a J.D. degree from the School of Law at the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the Bar in 1977. A significant portion of his practice has focused on international commercial transactions, from representing foreign clients in identifying investment opportunities in the United States and elsewhere to counseling small and medium-sized U.S. companies in developing export markets. A member of the International Law Committee of the South Carolina Bar since its formation, he served as its Chairman for three years.Over the past two decades, his practice has also embraced complex litigation, primarily as an advocate for consumers in class actions arising out of loan transactions. Several of these cases have been appealed to the South Carolina Supreme Court, and one was heard by the United States Supreme Court.
