Senior Director Of Programs & CollectionsGenesee Country Village & Museum Sep 2007 - PresentThe Genesee Country Village & Museum (GCV&M) is a 700-acre open air museum with an historic village of 68 relocated structures, a costume and art museum, library, carriage museum and nature center. At GCV&M, I direct seven museum departments charged with providing curatorial, collections and exhibit services, interpretive and educational programs, historic building preservation and maintenance, as well as natural, agricultural and horticultural programming. These seven departments employ nine full-time, seven part-time and over ninety seasonal employees. As a senior director I work with the President/CEO, other senior staff and members of the board of trustees to establish, attain, and maintain the institution's goals, policies, procedures and programs. I also generate and track department and project budgets and create, monitor and evaluate work and program plans and schedules. I conduct research, develop exhibit plans, write and provide training. I am a member of GCV&M's strategic planning team and the primary author of the museum's IMLS funded Master Interpretive Plan.

Site Director/CuratorHistoric Brattonsville/York County Culture & Heritage Commission 2001 - 2007Rock Hill, ScAs Site Director for Historic Brattonsville, a property of the York County Culture & Heritage Commission, I provided administrative oversight for an historic site with 45 structures, Revolutionary War battlefield, historic farm and trail system. I managed four departments with a staff of 20 full and part-time employees charged with operating the site. I set goals and initiatives, created, monitored and evaluated work and program plans and schedules, generatd and tracked budgets, managed special events and worked with senior C&H Commission staff to establish, attain and maintain the agency's overall goals, policies, procedures and programs. As curator, I directed process to generate the site's Master Interpretive Plan, set priorities for, and oversaw the preservation and interpreation of the site's historic resources; provided content expertise on a variety of interpretive, historical, curatorial and operational matters; conducted research to support the current and future interpretation of the site and directed the site's historic agricultural program.

I worked with senior management to establish, attain and maintain the museum's goals, policies, procedures and programs and was a member fo the museum's strategic planning team.In conjunction with other senior staff, I managed the museum's exhibition program that generated over 40 exhibits and displays between 1997 and 2001. I set and maintained the exhibition schedule, provided consultation to staff during the creation of exhibit proposals and to exhibition teams during the development process. I conducted content and design analysis of planning documents and was the principal author of the museum's Exhibition Development Process Manual. As curator, I provided lectures, tours, demonstrations and docent training; wrote for a variety of publications; provided assistance to the museum's youth history magazine; chaired the museum's acquisition committee; acquired and documented agricultural and industrial artifacts, including a 1740/1760s two room frame structure relocated to the museum; acted as subject matterial specialist for the museum and its three regional facilities and was co-team leader of a 9,500 square foot, award-winning exhibit entitled "Health and Healing Experiences in North Carolina."
