Was tasked with a variety of projects to enhance efficiency and safety of processes while reducing cost. Projects included:Designed and manufactured a test panel fixture to enable accurate testing of density and microstructure of stacked parts for the PWA36295 coating. This fixture will improve the previous stacking fixture enable use in production. Projected savings: $1,500,000Developed a metal hard mask using NX or Unigraphics 3D modeling software to replace the use of metal ties to prevent overspray on double and triple stack stators. This was to create a more safe way of masking the stators as the metal ties would often prick the operators fingers. This was also a major time savings project resulting in a 310 man hours saved in the next year.Developed a spreadsheet using excel to predict gas flow usage for every part which gets a plasma spray coating in the plant. This spreadsheet enables quick analysis of gas usage for any period of time throughout the year for any process and any number of parts. This spreadsheet can additionally predict weekly, monthly, or yearly spending on each of the five gasses used in all of the plasma spray processes. Used NX or Unigraphics to develop a fixture to enable density readings on stators which are sprayed with an abradable coating. This enables operators to ensure the quality of these stators is consistent with the blueprint specifications. Used Minitab to analyze hardness and density data to limit the density range of plasma spray coatings accepted on a variety of parts. This limits the number of parts which need to be stripped and recoated due to over hard or over dense coatings.Used Capp 2 to reword operation sheets for better flow and consistency across the plant. This also created strict guidelines to check for a test panel acceptance before parts can be sprayed and passed on to machining. This limits the number of failures due to microstructure which need to be recalled saving the company time and money.
