I'm Charles McPherson, the author of SOUTH OF CHARLESTON, THE JOURNEY, Growing Up In A Place Called Hickory Hill.I grew up in a small town in South Carolina, after High School I left home to experience the world outside of the small dirt road town and make a better life for myself.I served in the United States Air Force where I was able to Travel around the world. I began my self-improvement journey by attending College. The roads I have traveled, in my life, have been a miracle and blessing from God. I have worked as a Computer Systems Analyst for the past twenty years. During my journey I realized that my life experience had a kinship and familiarity with many people and I simply needed to tell my story. I spent many years documenting my childhood and my family history to leave a meaningful historical deposit for my children and family to understand. My story reflects life in the south of an African American family whose roots began in slavery. I believe this small slice of history is worth sharing because it can touch many people who would like to understand what things were like when people and the nation were searching for moral character and equal rights for all.
