Mediation of community nuisance issues and juvenile offender cases on cases requiring Spanish language skills.

Via the Neighbor to Neighbor office I completed Mediation Certification and subsequently joined the Marion County Court mediation panel for small claims and landlord-tenant cases as a volunteer. The variety and range of cases was impressive and required careful attention to assist parties reach agreement. All agreements were prepared in legal format for review and signature by the assigned judge. I took a temporary leave of absence from this position in July, 2015.I continue to participate as a mediator with the Neighbor to Neighbor office on cases involving public nuisance issues and juvenile offenders. Most often I am assigned to cases requiring Spanish language. At the present time I may be the only local Spanish speaking mediator. While these cases are similar to the court, they differ in that agreements are not covered by a judge's signature and authority. Both types of mediation require similar skills but have different procedural process.

I reviewed these reports and determined corrective action(s). During periods of active duty I interacted with all levels of the military chain of command, participated in meetings and liaised with counterparts in other military units.

This includes assistance with legal process, real estate and construction management for new residences. Service area covers the Pacific beaches and the Altos del Maria private community. As Vice President, I managed all aspects of the company, including the security of large sums of client funds. I also handled all coordination with government authorities regarding permits, code inspections and final approval for occupation.

My work at the Panama Canal Commission involved supervision of 30+ Occupational Safety Officers, Marine Safety Inspectors, trainers and support staff. Professional level writing, public relations and diplomatic tact were skills used on a constant basis. Interaction with senior agency managers, Panama Government and U.S. Military counterparts was a major function of this position as well.I was the lead investigator for serious/fatal accidents and prepared findings reports for senior managers and the Department of Labor. One major element of this position was annual evaluations of each agency division to determine compliance with agency and Federal safety policies & regulations. Discussing deficiencies with divisions managers was a delicate process requiring tact and, at times, willingness to be assertive.During my time in this position the agency accident/fatality rate declined from a very high initial level. The reason for this was better coordination of resources and top level support for the division to operate independently.
