I am an independent energy and climate consultant based in Kenya, with 15 years’ experience working for public and private sector clients on projects targeting commercialization and uptake of renewable and energy efficient technologies; providing services such as market studies, technical training, development of financing schemes and undertaking policy reviews for solar PV, rural electrification, mini-grids, bio-energy, energy efficiency standards and labels and energy efficiency in buildings. I have been providing technical support to Renewable Energy challenge funds which finance sustainable models for deployment of RE products and services in Eastern and Southern Africa. This includes review of funding applications, technical due diligence visits, compiling methodologies for assessing development impact and carbon emission reduction impact, tracking supported projects to identify implementation barriers, collecting and collating key performance indicator data, mentoring successful applicants and undertaking targeted studies to identify and understand key renewable energy market trends that would inform future funding and program design
