I am a qualified financial accountant with an IMM diploma in marketing management. I spent 20 years in the polymer raw material industry working for the South African subsidiary of the German chemical giant Hoechst AG. Upon leaving Hoechst in 2000 I established & ran a couple of packaging distribution businesses until I was approached by Astrapak Limited, at the time South Africa’s largest focussed plastic packaging company, where I headed up their group marketing - this role involved, inter-alia, responsibility for the groups sustainability initiatives. I left Astrapak early in 2013 to establish my own plastics & packaging consultancy business. I remain involved in the plastics & packaging space in South Africa & sit on a number of different industry executive committees & boards. I assumed the role of Executive Director of Packaging SA (formerly the Packaging Council of SA) on 1 September 2013.In March 2018 I left Packaging SA to take over the running of Tufflex Plastic Products, a Johannesburg based recycling company that specialises in plastic recycling and the manufacture of plastic timber.
