Before November 1992, I was a full Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition, School of Medicine, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. All in all, I have had over 4 decades of academic experience in scientific research (with more than 100 publications), teaching (with several teaching awards), and medical education management. In November 1992, I became the academic head of the newly established Byblos campus of the Lebanese American University (LAU). In 1995, I became the founder of the first School of Pharmacy that offered a US-style Doctor of Clinical Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) in Lebanon & the region. In 2002, the School became the first in the World outside the U.S. to receive accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE). From October 1, 2004 to September 30, 2007, I was the Provost and Executive Vice President of a newly chartered university, called the Lebanese International University (LIU). From 2009-2010, I was the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the American University of Technology (AUT) in Lebanon. My current interests are the development of new degree programs; consulting on active learning; and conducting workshops both on teaching innovation and learning excellence, as well as on preventive nutrition and fitness. So far, I have conducted more than 25 workshops on Teaching Innovation in Arts and Sciences, Business, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Preventive Nutrition. Designed degree programs of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Laboratory Science, and Nursing, and wrote a variety of strategic plans for various schools and universities.
