About Charles Norman

I am an environmental specialist with three decades' experience in environmental services. I advise on the integration of technical pragmatism and environmental processes at the earliest stages of project development. I have worked extensively in rural Africa on a variety of environmental assessments and environmental planning assignments for a range of local and internationally funded public and private sector projects. My experience is predominantly related to mining, energy, large infrastructure and manufacturing projects in Southern and East Africa as well as Australia. Working under different legislative regimes in various countries, as well as ensuring compliance with the ESG requirements of the World Bank, IFC and other Financial Institutions, demonstrates my ability to adapt as circumstances change. I regularly collaborate with teams across the globe identifying potential environmental constraints and advising clients on cost effective avoidance and mitigation solutions.

I also mapped and quantified alien vegetation status in the Barrydale, Botvlei, Kamanassi and Karatara catchments for EnviroGIS.
