About Charles R. Ecker
Charles Ecker concludes his 40 year professional career as leader of The C.R. Ecker Band, a country/Christian musical group based in Los Angeles with production studios in Nashville. Following four years in the U.S. Air Force, where he earned its Commendation Medal for establishing the largest base-level broadcast service in that branch of the service, he spent the first ten years of his adult life in the media including responsibilities as a print journalist, radio personality and television anchorman.For the next two decades, before returning on-air at KBLA-AM, Los Angeles in what was an all business news format, he was a public relations executive first in New York at then national PR agency giant -- D-A-Y, followed by corporate communications positions in Maryland (Commercial Credit Co., Marriott Hotels & Resorts) before coming to Los Angeles in 1984 to head up Ogilvy & Mather's Southern California PR Division.It was at this time that he joined the Los Angeles Songwriters Showcase earning its coveted Songwriters Service Excellence Award. Over the years, he has continued his interest in music which resulted in the launch of The C.R. Ecker Band in the Summer of 2011. Songs and critical reviews can be viewed at The C.R. Ecker Band website.In response to 9-11 this one time resident of New York City joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2002 and served as a Public Information Officer and also as a Flotilla Commander until 2012.
