WhiteProject Title: Mechanisms of Ebolavirus EntrySelected Accomplishments:• Developed a multi-purpose virus-like particle (VLP) system for studying multiple aspects of Ebolavirus entry into host cells • Identified and characterized a new class of small molecules that robustly inhibit Ebolavirus entry• Collaborated with external labs for BSL-4 experiments on live Ebolavirus; also collaborated in ongoing structural studies of the Ebolavirus glycoprotein• Adapted this VLP system for ongoing studies of the fusion triggering conditions of the Ebolavirus glycoprotein • Produced numerous first author and co-author publications• Established two new assays that have become experimental mainstays for the White labTechnical Skills:Mammalian tissue culture, recombinant DNA technology, molecular biology, immunocytochemistry, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, transient transfection, siRNA
