The climate and biodiversity crises are the most serious challenges humanity has ever faced. We've poisoned our waters, foods and landscapes, and drove countless species to extinction. As Terrence McKenna once said "If we could *feel* what we are doing to the Earth we would stop immediately." I agree and I'm very positive we can become more responsible caretakers of Earth, as we would with a garden — which is perhaps why we're here.My background is a mix of ecology and molecular genetics. I studied phylogenetics, paleontology, evolution, as well as plant, algal and fungal biology with taxonomy, in situ sampling trips and dissections. Then, I changed scale to understand how genes and cellular processes rule over plant physiology. I fell in love with the molecular underpinnings of plant-microbe interactions (especially mycorrhizal symbioses) and "omic" techniques. During my PhD, I used genetics, microscopy, phenotyping, transcriptomics and metabolomics to investigate the stability of root comensal traits in community contexts and how plants modulate their root immune responses to fungal endophytes when under nutrient stress. As Humify's first biologist, I am setting up a microbiology lab. Using microbial functions, I explore how to modulate humus properties and formulations to adapt it to diverse environmental applications.Away from the desk/bench, you can find me rock climbing, gardening or cooking.

Scientific Advisory Board Member900M Oct 2023 - PresentMontpellier, Occitanie, France900M is a non-profit who's ambition is to educate and enpower citizens interested in afforestation/reforestation projects. As the first member of the Science Advisory Board, my initial mission is to seek out qualified individuals to complete the Board assembly. Then, the board will be tasked with validation of the scientific soundness of all 900M's educational materials. Through 900M, the board will work towards improving awareness of how trees and forests provide ecosystemic services and are embedded in the marvelous web of life. -
