During my placement at Tony Gee and Partners, I gained extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, particularly in:• Slope Stability: Assessing the stability of natural and reinforced slopes.• Retaining Walls/Structures: Designing and performing checks for retaining walls and sheet piles.• Working Platforms: Calculating the required thickness and materials for safe working platforms.• Ground Movement Assessments: Predicting settlements under various loading and ground conditions.To perform these tasks, I analysed borehole data and test results to select appropriate design parameters for soils and rocks. I also conducted research on relevant topics, including embankment settlement, the effects of pile driving on slope stability, and the bearing capacity of footings on granular soils.Additionally, I gained proficiency in the following software tools:• Plaxis 2D/3D: For stress-strain and settlement analysis.• Slide 2: Used for slope stability and groundwater flow analysis.• Wallap: For assessing factors of safety and forces within retaining walls.• Repute: For analysing forces and reactions in pile groups.• Holebase: A geotechnical knowledge management system for summarising soil and rock data.This placement provided me with a strong foundation in practical geotechnical design and analysis,and I have gained invaluable hands-on experience, learned from industry professionals, and contributed to real-world projects in the engineering industry throughout the year.

As a Student Representative, I regularly gather feedback from peers, raising concerns about academic matters during meetings with academic administration, and working collaboratively with faculty to improve the overall student experience. Through this position, I developed strong communication and problem-solving skills, while advocating for the needs of my fellow students.
