At The Jackson Laboratory I lead the education team, focusing on biomedical trainees, clinical and continuing education, genetics and genomics education for young scientists and professional development. The team supports graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, builds and launches new courses and workshops, creates innovative online education resources, runs multi-state teacher and professor professional development programs and engages healthcare professionals through genetics and genomics learning experiences. I am the Principle Investigator for the NIH-SEPA funded Teaching the Genome Generation program, a multifaceted high school teacher professional development program focused on human genetics, ethics and personalized medicine. My Highlights include:Significant experience and high success rate with numerous NIH, NSF and HHMI funded grants.Development of disseminated, national education programs in genetics and genomics.Bond-financing to commissioning-stage management of LEED-certified biomedical research and training facilities.Promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM.Research and compliance programs.I am pleased to volunteer in my community and as a career science educator.
