The Commerce City Council serves as the legislative and governing body. Comprising nine dedicated members, the council plays a pivotal role in crafting the city's vision, establishing annual goals to bring that vision to life, and enacting laws that guide residents. An integral responsibility includes the annual review and approval of the city budget.Members of the City Council also hold the authority to appoint key positions, such as the city manager, city attorney, municipal court judge, and various members of boards and commissions.

During my tenure at the Wend Collective, I spearheaded the creation of a comprehensive social responsibility strategy, seamlessly integrating community development, education, and philanthropic partnerships. This initiative fueled transformative change and innovation within the social impact landscape. Through dedicated efforts, I cultivated strong and collaborative relationships with local and national philanthropic partners, amplifying the impact of initiatives dedicated to supporting BIPOC and disadvantaged youth. I established cohesive goals within the Wend Strategy framework and vigilantly monitored progress, ensuring a measurable and meaningful impact on our social responsibility endeavors.

The Office of Children's Affairs was established in 1995 to ensure Denver’s children and youth have their basic needs met, are ready for kindergarten and are prepared for academic and professional success. The Office of Children’s Affairs convenes policy makers, advocates and community partners to leverage resources that work to improve outcomes for all Denver children and youth. We work in collaboration with all stakeholders to support the Mayor's 5 goals for children.

Charles Dukes serves Aurora Public Schools as the Director of College and Career Success Programs. As Director, Charles oversees multiple College and Career initiatives such as the Concurrent Enrollment program, Career and Technical Education, ICAP Implementation, Counseling Support Services, and P20 College and Career Preparation Services.

Assisted districts and colleges statewide with mitigating challenges to implementing new Concurrent Enrollment legislation.First grant manager for the School Counselor Corps Grant Program and worked with 32 school districts to help school counselors adhere to counseling standards created by the American School Counselors Association. Coordinated the implementation of the state statute that requires school districts to have an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) for all high school students.
