This project was divided into two phases: Phase 1 involved upgrading 14 existing pump stations and the terminal facility, while Phase 2 aimed to add 5 additional pumping stations, effectively doubling the output. Unfortunately, the project encountered significant challenges, and Phase 2 was at risk of termination. That's when I was brought in to rescue the second phase, which had a budget of $100 million.Upon joining the project, I swiftly identified the root causes of the failure, which were primarily attributed to the misapplication of the Archestra HMI platform. To rectify the situation, I implemented necessary corrections, ensuring the platform was utilized appropriately. Additionally, I employed solid project management practices, emphasizing team follow-up and accountability to get the project back on track.Recognizing the criticality of the project's success, I made a commitment to travel to Russia for commissioning operations. This allowed me to make crucial updates along the length of the pipeline, spanning from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea, where the terminal facility was located. Through these visits, I ensured that the HMI system was functioning optimally and that any required adjustments were made promptly.By addressing the underlying issues, implementing effective project management practices, and personally overseeing critical updates, I successfully turned around Phase 2 of the project.
