  • Nugen Automation
    Senior Scada Consultant
    Nugen Automation May 2014 - Oct 2017
In my embedded role, I led the design and development of a QA test and simulation environment. This was crucial for validating the conversion of over 50 pump-station HMI systems along the newly acquired Express/Platte pipeline. The main goal was to transition from Intellution iFIX to the Wonderware system platform, with a focus on deploying managed Intouch applications. Additionally, I worked closely with a cross-functional team to enhance remote-deployed station HMI platforms, graphics, and historians. Here's how I contributed:Expansion of Project Scope: I proposed and executed a strategy to extend the initial 6-month project, transforming it into a multi-year endeavor. This not only maximized the client's benefits and satisfaction but also generated a significant, continuous revenue stream. By spotting and leveraging growth opportunities, I aimed for and achieved lasting success and client value.Alarm Rationalization Tool Development: I designed and developed a tool in C# to streamline the alarm rationalization process across the 50 pipeline pump stations. This automation tool made the process more efficient, accurate, and compliant with industry standards.Tool Suite Creation for Process Automation: I created a suite of tools using C# and GRAccess that transformed existing workflows. This suite automated mundane tasks, slashing labor costs by freeing the team to concentrate on more sophisticated and impactful work, thus boosting overall productivity.Through these efforts, I was instrumental in the smooth transition of HMI systems, successful deployment of managed Intouch applications, and process optimization. • Englobal
    Software Development Team Leader
    Englobal Oct 2012 - Jun 2014
    Houston, Texas, Us
This project was divided into two phases: Phase 1 involved upgrading 14 existing pump stations and the terminal facility, while Phase 2 aimed to add 5 additional pumping stations, effectively doubling the output. Unfortunately, the project encountered significant challenges, and Phase 2 was at risk of termination. That's when I was brought in to rescue the second phase, which had a budget of $100 million.Upon joining the project, I swiftly identified the root causes of the failure, which were primarily attributed to the misapplication of the Archestra HMI platform. To rectify the situation, I implemented necessary corrections, ensuring the platform was utilized appropriately. Additionally, I employed solid project management practices, emphasizing team follow-up and accountability to get the project back on track.Recognizing the criticality of the project's success, I made a commitment to travel to Russia for commissioning operations. This allowed me to make crucial updates along the length of the pipeline, spanning from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea, where the terminal facility was located. Through these visits, I ensured that the HMI system was functioning optimally and that any required adjustments were made promptly.By addressing the underlying issues, implementing effective project management practices, and personally overseeing critical updates, I successfully turned around Phase 2 of the project. The commitment to resolving challenges and the hands-on approach to managing the project were instrumental in saving the $100 million second phase and bringing the project back to a path of success.
