I spearheaded the transition of development of Cascade’s online energy management platform from an external consulting firm to an internal software development team and have transitioned from a software developer role to a senior software architect role. At Cascade I have: - Instituted a policy of industry recognized coding standards for all new development- Implemented a regimen of testing and test driven development practices in preparation for continuous integration- Overseen a migration from Rackspace to Amazon Web Services for our server infrastructure- Begun a process of refactoring and restructuring the application to take advantage of horizontal scalability in a programmable infrastructure- Led a process of code modernization which has included updating frameworks and package management strategies for our legacy code as well as developing a strategy for a transition from PHP to NodeJS for new sections of our application in order to take advantage of a unified language for both server and client-side functionality and to support the use of new platforms such as Amazon’s Lambda- Acted as a mentor and eventually as manager for other developers on Cascade’s software development team

As part of ADP’s Dealer Services group I work to maintain and update ADP Credit – a web-based application that provides a suite of sales support tools for car dealerships – as well as related reporting and management tools. My role at ADP requires extensive object-oriented PHP development (including work with both the Zend Framework and ADP’s custom MVC framework), the design and implementation of SOAP services (including WSDL and XSD development), processing data from third-party SOAP services, JavaScript development (using both the Prototype and jQuery libraries), and database design and query development in PostgreSQL. Additionally, I interact with git and a local installation of GitHub:Enterprise for source control and have leveraged the GitHub API for report generation and build support.

I developed more than 20 small Flash-based games in a variety of styles, many of which were built using the flixel game engine and most of which implemented one or more of the Kongregate and MochiMedia leaderboard, advertising, and in-game purchase APIs.

I developed a number of PHP and MySQL driven websites including a real-time web analytics system. In addition to HTML, CSS, PHP and Smarty development my experience during this time included work with jQuery and Spry, interaction with APIs from Twitter and Google, and some Firefox plugin development.

I regularly taught PHP, HTML, and MySQL courses in the continuing education program at RISD.

As a student-employee, I helped implement a MySQL / PHP based re-design of the entire Rhode Island College website.

I contributed to the re-design of Blue Moon Industries website, and developed the PHP-based content management system which is currently used to maintain and manage the site.

At Advanced Acoustic Concepts I designed and developed project management tools using Java Server Pages and MySQL and assisted in the development of Java-based monitoring, recording, simulation and testing software for custom hardware.

Using ColdFusion and Microsoft SQL Server I helped re-design a medium-sized, web-based affiliate network system. Over time this system matured and included a number of additional components ranging from an online auction system to a lead generation and tracking toolkit for our merchant partners. I was also involved in the management of our in-house servers and network infrastructure.
