Designed and implemented components of a distributed services system that leveraged many Amazon Web Services offerings such as SQS, S3, EC2, ECS, Lambdas and DynamoDB and allowed data scientists to execute scripts written in multiple languages on a single framework. Developed application that scrapes Code Coverage data for multiple libraries and presents it in a cohesive view. Led the implementation of an Auto Scaling strategy for a service that executes long running algorithms. Refactored existing test framework to handle both JSON and XML outputs during testing. Designed and implemented acceptance testing framework for backend systems using Cucumber BDD. Lead effort to port team test framework from C# to Java. Initiated company-wide use of Spring-based testing framework. Assumed development of an application that simulates interactions with T-Mobile and Verizon’s consumer-facing interfaces. Developed application that emulates Apple’s Push Notification and Feedback Service.

Led teams of up to six QA engineers in the testing of three major projects through multiple release cycles . Effectively managed inter-team communications and worked to resolve conflicts between groups. Mentored new employees and familiarized them with organizational procedures and policies. Directed test efforts for two high-profile projects that greatly reduced the development cycle for both new customer applications and the modification of existing ones. Drafted a functional test API that drastically shortened the test cycle for a major Varolii product and made it possible for this product to enter into Agile development.

Oversaw a team of four test engineers in the functional and stress testing of Varolii's first customer-facing dashboard application. Initiated the use of Quality Center for tracking requirements coverage and test execution. Assisted with the refactoring of existing automated test suite. Evaluated bug-tracking software options and presented recommendations to engineering department heads. Set up engineering department Jira instance and migrated all relevant issues from Bugzilla to Jira.

Gathered requirements, determined test scope, developed test plan and successfully performed all planned test cases on a new Varolii application within four months of hire. Executed white, grey and black box tests. Actively contributed to automated test suite. Assumed responsibility for maintaining and enhancing engineering department Bugzilla instance.

I assisted a research student in establishing a location-specific website that had bulletin-board capabilities, and the ability to selectively reveal information about its members based on whether or not the member in question was actually online at the time, and whether or not an inquiring individual was actually a member or not. For this, I used JSP's with a MySQL Backend. This was for Intel Research Seattle.
