Charles Cathlin is the a co-founder and CEO of TruGenomix, a behavioral health company using the power of genomics to advance the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD. Charles is a U.S. military veteran with extensive leadership experience in the fields of medical technology, engineering, and public health. He retired from active duty in 2018 with 23 years of service between the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Public Health Service and earned decorations while deployed to the Middle East, Albania (Kosovo War), Mozambique, and New York City (ground zero) following the September 11th attacks. Charles’ experiences at ground zero compelled him to pivot his career to develop his expertise and experience in medical technology and mental health interventions.Prior to retirement, Charles served as Chief of Staff of the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC). As a senior leader at DVBIC, he was responsible for the business operations, strategy, and communications for DoD’s largest center of excellence, supporting the development of traumatic brain injury (TBI) clinical and educational products, and TBI research across 22 military and veteran treatment facilities. Charles also served as Director of Innovation and Implementation at the Deployment Health Clinical Center (currently known as the Psychological Health Center of Excellence) to support the development of military psychological health treatment and education products. Charles has a decade of medical device regulatory experience with the FDA, which started with compliance reviews of diagnostic radiological device to his promotion as Chief of the Radiology and Neurology Devices Branch. He is also a co-founder and member of the board of directors of Confinis Corporation, a global medical device consulting company with offices in Switzerland and the United Stated. Charles received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the U.S Air Force Academy and his Master of Public Health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). He also completed executive post-graduate programs in entrepreneurship at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and at Johns Hopkins University’s Carey Business School.
