About Charles Carter

I believe in the power of technology to solve complex business problems and drive competitive advantage. I've dedicated my career to software and information technology solutions to help businesses achieve their goals and solve challenges. For the last two-thirds of my career, I've held quota-carrying roles such as Account Executive, Account Manager, Business Value Team creator, and Solution Consultant at companies like Microsoft and OpenText. This includes experience at smaller companies and one was acquired by OpenText. Early in my career, I was fortunate to work and learn in professional services roles at KPMG and Arthur Andersen.Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work across various industries, broadening my business insights. Thanks to my CPA background, I bring a unique financial perspective to my work, allowing me to connect deeply with customer metrics and outcomes. I genuinely believe most things can fit into a spreadsheet—haha, no, really. My strengths tend to lie in the Relationship Building, Strategic Thinking, and Influencing themes. As examples, I enjoy building and managing teams, analyzing information, and presenting. I've included my CliftonStrengths Finder assessment in my LinkedIn 'Featured' section below to highlight these strengths and talents. From a geo perspective, I’ve lived in the San Francisco bay area for half my career, with previous time split between (hometown) Chicago and Denver areas. I’ve always carried a bag travelling across the United States & Canada to meet customers at their office locations or over a meal to do business.I like working with companies to help them realize their strategies through modern information management solutions. I'm drawn to data-centric (structured & unstructured) areas like artificial intelligence, GenAI, digital transformation, and data governance. My work often involves collaborating with technology, line of business, and risk management stakeholders. Building relationships with decision-makers and their teams has rewarded me with long-term connections and friendships that I maintain to this day.I'm continually inspired to learn and explore new avenues for growth to help my customers achieve ever more.
