I worked with a team of highly skilled and enthusiastic engineers to develop an in-house solution to the growing problem of provisioning many environments for development, testing, and eventually production. DevOps isn't about how much you know, it is about how quickly you can adapt and pick it up.I'm Building a Chef Infrastructure that deploys docker-ready bare metal systems to support an orchestrated docker deployment scheme. I also lead agile ceremonies, and was training to be assistant manager - taking on duties relevant to the coming transition.Buzzwords aside, I dockerize applications, automate the provisioning of their docker hosts, orchestrate their deployment, determine why they are not performing service discovery, develop continuous implementations of tests/builds/integrations, design and plan around a disaster recovery scenario, and push to iterate infrastructure rather than stagnate, define relationships between services, architect network infrastructure, and sit in design meetings for new applications yet to see the light of day to advise on best practice.Known to gently pester management until I am requisitioned an internal domain name to automate and segregate non production from production resources when nobody else may think it is important.Recently, I've been using Terraform to create entire VPCs, their hosts, and bootstrapping it with chef when necessary. Even in this day of automated cloud computing I also find myself doing performance analysis on File IO operations, manually configuring servers for ad-hoc projects, and finding new ways to make developer's lives easier.I am always seeking something new to learn and incorporate in my methodologies and stacks.

I am currently working full time in the San Francisco Bay Area in the role of a Technical Operations Engineer. Part of my day to day involves working with Chef, the chef.io supermarket and working on cookbooks to deploy and maintain the entire stack. I also work heavily with Python Fabric and Capistrano deploy utilities to make our engineers' lives easier. I love tooling, and enjoy reducing pain points by making friendly and intuitive tools. I am a large proponent of self-service.I have some experience with Dell technologies, from working with their friendly support staff to fast-track resolutions to working with the sometimes less than friendly Drac/Idrac systems. I work heavily with Amazon/AWS technologies out of house, and KVM virtualization in house. I find myself quite often calling upon my experience with server hardware in tight situations.I coordinate regularly with offshore vendors, plan deployments into new colo space, and configure & perform Load/Performance testing. Interacting with various networking and load balancing technologies including Cisco (ASA, Nexus) and F5 Networks hardware is an on-going learning experience.

Design, configure, manage and maintain the systems that run the Focus web application for school districts to track students, enrollment, and grades (as well as other things).Primarily working with CentOS systems running nginx/apache/postgres/gluster stacks, maintaining puppet, and keeping nagios in check.I write automation in Bash and Python, and likely spend about 60% of my day in a bash terminal.

In addition to my previous Systems Administrator responsibilities, I now supervise the third shift staff while acting as a liaison between employees and management. I monitor the health of the facilities, including the HVAC and power systems, and I am a primary contact point at night for distant or foreign employees. In addition, I now handle scheduling, employee task management, personnel disputes, and troubleshooting advanced technical issues that have been escalated beyond the scope of other departments. I was able to advance to this position in a short period due to my relentless effort and attention placed on the facility and work done.

Working directly within the Network Operations / Datacenter, I maintained/upgraded/repaired and built hardware in a client-facing position. Using our in-house PXE deployment system, I performed migrations, upgrades, restores, and corrected software issues. I also dealt heavily with hardware, often having to troubleshoot and correct failed hardware or electrical components. I worked heavily on Red-hat based Linux, and some Windows Server (2003- 2012), and developed internal automation using Python, Perl, and Bash. Regularly, I also performed audits of hardware and software to ensure compliance and health of the equipment in our facilities.

During this period I worked the first level help desk in the HostDime call center. The job duties entailed answering phone calls and 'live-chats', monitoring the help desk, basic troubleshooting, and scripting. I worked primarily with Windows Server using Plesk/RDP, CentOS, WHM/cPanel, and Xen/OpenVZ virtualization technologies. The position relied heavily on my ability to multi task, and technical comprehension of poorly translated or spoken foreign/domestic languages. I quickly outgrew this position and move to another position within our Datacenter.

I studied in the field of Recording Arts while building contacts in the local Live Entertainment and Recording communities.

I returned for a second year to manage Stage B at Nerdapalooza 2011. My duties included directing volunteers, managing artists, troubleshooting, front of house engineering, stage tech, Maintaining a fixed schedule for performances, and many other activities.

I worked with Donny Young Entertainment frequently on live productions. My duties included Load in/out, Stage Tech, Front of House / monitor assistant, Lighting Tech, General Assistance.

Assisting in all sound duties including but not limited too: Front of House, Load in/out, stage tech for the weekend festival.
