Technical Lead within Sky Go development team responsible for the development, delivery and support of Sky's Internet TV services across all platforms from web to mobile and consoles. Coordinating with other teams and external suppliers to provide the content, delivery, presentation and management of all Sky's Internet TV services like Sky Go, Now TV and Sky Movies.

Senior Agile Devloper at BSkyB. Working in an experienced agile team building tactical solutions to enhance Sky's internal systems.

The Community project created sub portal sites using a third party community solution to increase Sky's Social Network offering. We developed Blogs, Forums and Commenting functionality into existing Sky sites (Sky News, Sky.Com and Sky Player) maintaining the look of the original site. A Sky Community site was also developed to provide an aggregated view of the Sky Community. Initially using the third parties Javascript libraries to publish the content on the site we quickly moved onto to create a bridge between the third party and the portal pages in order to provide indexable content for SEO. Developed in Java and mainly using JSP's for content output this bridge allowed us to provide fully indexable pages and cache frequently requested content; within a month we had first page top ten search results for every single site we had developed on Google and over a million page impressions.

Working on AOL's LLU Project, I initially worked within the Service Management Team (which developed tools for the administration and allocation of service). I then worked within the team using Sonic ESB to implement communication and access to OpenReach's new EbXML interface. I was also responsible for managing a small team to implement the MAC Generation System. All developers within the team had to pick a story, develop a solution, producing the required unit and system tests and then hand the completed work over to the QA/Test Team for sign off. Normally coded as test first development the project was completely agile and ran in small iterations of one or two weeks. As my experience increased I was also responsible for producing stories and allocating them to a high level development plan and providing feedback to other teams to maintain an understanding of the development progress and any issues.

I was responsible for the analysis, design and conceptual architecture of the complete business systems covering the web sites, middle tier and back end systems. All applications were written in Java and combined standard J2EE methodologies using EJB’s, XML and XSLT, developed within an agile environment.

I worked in a small team of 6 people and was given responsibility for managing several distinct aspects of the projects I worked upon: to analyse, develop, commission and support an Object Oriented MIS solution for all European business units. This could involve assigning work to another three/four people from other Project Engineers to Factory Engineers and Operators. The application provides real-time information access between the shop floor and business systems and lead to a Europe wide production, scheduling and inventory system.
