About Charles Seguin
Few years before we created Digitalnauts, I was working in a national scientific laboratory (CNRS) in France where we covered fields such as Natural Language Processing, Human-Machine Interaction, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Fluid Mechanics, and Energetics. This experience gave me a deep understanding of immersive technology, before any commercial VR/AR/MR technologies and I had the chance to work on projects using the biggest CAVE environment in Europe. In 2016 I co-founded Digitalnauts with Mark Baxter, an old university friend as we share a common fascination for digital technologies, space and the outdoors. Our aim was (and remains) to make immersive technology accessible for businesses. During the early days of VR, when it was still seen as a sci-fi gimmick rather than a tool for real business impact, we focused on creating bespoke training content. Then and now, we believe in the power of VR to solve business needs and goals. But we know innovation can’t be implemented without a strategy and customer support. That’s why, at Digitalnauts, we provide organisations with the technology and expertise to strategically implement VR at scale, resulting in a future-ready workforce and a positive effect on their bottom line. At SCET, I worked on numerous projects while managing different clients from various sectors. My primary role as a lead developer was to develop tools, applications and serious games. I applied my skills and experience to multiple technologies. Continually developing my abilities to keep up with the fast-paced advancements of modern technology. Some of the projects I worked on required consisted of native mobile cross-platform development (Titanium, Xamarin, Java, ObjectiveC). Serious games and simulation (Unity, Cocos2D, PhaserIO) and virtual reality headsets (Oculus Rift DK1 & DK2, Google Cardboard). Experience working in the medical and mental health field. Creating commercials applications for the NHS, DiabetesScotland, Digital Health Institue. Working closely with doctors, patients and the NHS technical team. Managing and supervising workshops to tailor the application to the users. Applications ranging from encrypted multimedia note tracker for doctors to serious games for kids with diabetes and young adults with mental disabilities.
