Charles Flood practices criminal defense in state and federal courts across the United States, as well as advising clients with international legal problems. He has handled virtually every kind of criminal case, ranging from environmental crimes to large-scale narcotics importation.Because he truly believes that no problem is too small for complete and aggressive legal representation, Charles handles cases as diverse as a routine driving while intoxicated charge to complex white-collar litigation.Mr. Flood has tried cases before every level of criminal trial court in Texas, as well as state courts in numerous other states. He has handled federal cases in several states, and argued before the 5th and 6th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal and the 1st, 13th, and 14th Courts of Appeals of Texas. In addition, he has filed briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.Mr. Flood recently secured probation and a $200 fine for the Second Engineer on an oil tanker who was charged with Federal Clean Water Act violations. He also obtained a 2½ year sentence for the accused leader of a mortgage fraud conspiracy that the judge found resulted in more than $10 million in losses to numerous banks.He is a member of the Houston and American Bar Associations; State Bar of Texas; Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit; Houston Trial Lawyers Association; Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association; Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.Charles is a partner in the firm’s Houston office.
