I am a trustee for the Cheshire based charity Friends for Leisure.Friends for Leisure arranges activities from one-to-one friendships through to group activities, such as drama and sports sessions, for disabled children & young people aged 5-21 who live in Cheshire East. We also help our children and young people access activities of their choice, with or without a volunteer friend.As part of this role I am helping to market to and recruit young male volunteers into a one to one friendship with a young person. I also occasionally volunteer at their group sessions in Congleton, Macclesfield or Crewe.

I have been elected Mayor of Congleton. This has given me a fantastic opportunity to see the positive and exciting things that are happening in Congleton. It has been eye opening to see the shear quantity of voluntary organisations and causes that are active in the town, and to encourage people to be a part of this. I come from a poor background, and have had a difficult and unconventional upbringing, particularly in my teenage years. Because of this I hope to be open, honest and approachable, and to set a modern and positive example to encourage other people of all backgrounds to actively engage in local causes, in spite of any preconceptions or expected norms.I am so proud to be a resident of this town and I hope and pray I do justice to this fantastic opportunity.

In my role as Councillor at Congleton Town Council, I have been elected as the deputy Mayor for the year 2016-17. In this, my ambition is to help out local small businesses by encouraging apprenticeships for young people; this is something I feel passionate about. By representing my local council I hope that my presence will encourage more young people age 16-30 to get involved in local politics, and I would like to help my generation understand the importance of budgeting, financial planning and developing their own personal business potential.

Developing on my previous experience and MORE Training, I will be working alongside traditional conventional printing companies, as well as digital media and IT companies, delivering a range of digital apprenticeships and qualifications in the IT, Design, Web and Print sectors.Best of all for me personally, I am involved in training and teaching in both my own courses in IT and Printing, as well as employability and digital skills courses run by Total People. This also includes developing a remote training provision via the use of websites, using e-learning and H5P pages, using eportfolio systems (Mainly OneFile) and using live remote training sessions, including webinars and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) sessions.

IT previously being my weakest area, I feel I have struck gold on an opportunity to start over and learn a whole new subject and gain experience in a whole new field.Starting at the bottom; my duties currently include working with oracle based database software and remote support terminal server software such as Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange. Mostly I provide IT support for software users and their accounts, this includes advice and guidance as well as account administration and basic maintenance.

After several years away from the workshop environment, I am back on the shop floor working with a range of print equipment, such as guillotines, folding machines, and other finishing equipment, including my personal favourite; the Heidelberg 1960 cylinder. This particular machine is a perfect example of over engineering; where modern machinery consists of sensors and electrical motors and clutches, this machine has a single electric motor, and all the moving parts are driven by perfectly machined gears, cams and followers. Such engineering mastery we'll never witness again as there is little need for it any more, however being exposed to this type of machinery helps fuel one of my other hobbies, letterpress work.

At book binding and supply I import and supply Print Finishing machinery for a relatively low price.I also provide set-up, servicing and demonstration with each purchase, as well as supplying sundries such as hot melt glue and double loop wire.I also own the several print finishing machines and offer various book binding services such as perfect binding and wire binding.

My primary role here was a Print Finisher, operating a variety of different machinery including; Guillotines, Folding machines (T and K styles), Insetting-Stitching-Trimming machines, Die cutting Platens and various small finishing machinery.My secondary role was to train new and current staff on the various print finishing equipment.

I was originally taken on as an apprentice in this company, where I learned how to print on an Offset-Litho press as well as use a variety of print finishing machinery.Machinery includes a 5 colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52 and a 2 colour Heidelberg Speedmaster compact SM52 with convertible perfector, as well as finishing machinery such as Polar Guillotines, small folding machines and a Duplo Booklet maker.
