Wrote Firmware in C for Microchip ATSAM microcontrollers to control wearable devices. Developed an Android application in React Native to communicate with microcontrollers using both Java and Javascript. Developed the software and circuit for a portable pill dispenser that kept track of the last time medication was dispensed. Implemented the code using Python on a raspberry pi which drove a step motor to rotate chambers that held the medication. Only after the specified time would the pill dispenser allow for the next dosage of pills to be dispensed.

A class at Boston University had us work in interdisciplinary groups of four to design a product to the specifications of a professor that acted as a client. The class walked us through the design process and allowed us to develop our own unique way of solving a problem. In my group's case, we were challenged with designing a product that would detect a significant pressure change that signified a leak in a home's plumbing system. It shut off the home's main water supply, and alerted the owner of the house that there was an anomaly through text message. I designed a circuit to control all of the electrical components using an Arduino, implemented it on a breadboard, and coded the driver code in C++. The process took a significant amount of team work and research to find the best solution to the problem and complete the project before the deadline.

Over the period of about a month, I studied how promoter activity is affected when bacteria are placed in different carbon source media. The bacteria had either the promoter araB, lacY, or mglB and these were paired with GFP as a reporter gene. In the lab, I used a Miniprep Kit to separate plasmid DNA and cut them with the restriction enzymes BamHI and Xhol. The promoters with the reporter gene were then ligated in the plasmid and then inserted into bacteria using heat shock. The bacteria multiplied on an agarose plate. Afterwards, I took a colony of bacteria, lysed them, and replicated the promoter with PCR using primers that corresponded to the promoter region. I ran this DNA through gel electrophoresis in order to confirm the presence of the promoter in the bacteria. Lastly, the bacteria were placed into different media with varying carbon sources such as casamino acid, L-arabinose, lactose, and glucose with one of these other carbon sources. I plotted the GFP expression along with bacteria concentration using excel to observe promoter activity.

Involved in property maintenance such as lawn mowing, mulching, hedge trimming, and other maintenance. Worked closely with the client to make sure we delivered exactly what he or she wanted.

Taught children how to row, paddle board, and kayak over the summer at a camp. Worked with other instructors to make the most enjoyable experience possible. In addition to being an instructor for children, I taught adults how to row and worked with other instructors on maintenance of the boats and the property.
