About Charles Jensen

As the Program Director of the Writers' Program at UCLA Extension, I design and oversee the world's largest open enrollment continuing education program for writers. With over 7 years of experience in this role, I have developed and implemented innovative curriculum and programs of study, hired and evaluated more than 200 instructors, and identified ways to serve and support the diverse needs and goals of our students and alumni.I am also a writer and educator with a passion for genre-bending literature that pushes the boundaries of form and explores the intersections of culture, identity, and art. I have published a memoir, 3 poetry collections, 7 chapbooks, and a novella-in-verse, and have received multiple honors and awards, including the Cultural Trailblazer Award from the City of Los Angeles and the Zocalo Poetry Prize. I teach online courses in film studies at Rio Salado College, and I am the founding editor of LOCUSPOINT, a literary magazine that showcases poetry from different regions of the country. My mission is to inspire and empower writers and readers to discover and create new ways of expressing and experiencing the world.
