He taught astronauts to land the Space Shuttle as an instructor in the Shuttle Training Aircraft (STA). He has performed over 15,000 Shuttle approaches in the STA and over 40,000 parabolas as NASA's zero-g aircraft Captain. He was a Captain and Instructor Pilot in the Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA), ferrying numerous Space Shuttles. Justiz led the team that developed the onboard landing simulator for Space Shuttle pilots to use while in orbit.Justiz lives in Houston, Palm Springs, and New York City with his wife, actor, and writer Dayna Steele. He is the author of the sci-fi thriller, Specific Impulse.
