Dr. Sung Chul Kim, known by many as S.C., is recognized as an important and respected global voice in the discovery and development of next-generation therapies that redefine care options and outcomes for oncology patients. Born in South Korea, S.C. was influenced by important mentors who left imprints that have guided his leadership career. Among these is his father—an elementary school teacher and principal whose inspiration produced a family legacy of learning, research, hard work, and a commitment to improving the health and well-being of others.A registered pharmacist and the inventor of numerous patents, S.C. is a thought leader in oncology drug composition. He has shared his insights—ranging from drug development and non-clinical to R&D management to clinical and regulatory affairs to investigational new drug (IND) applications—as a published author and invited speaker. In honor of the first Korean to go abroad and study western medicine—Chi Seok-Young, S.C. was presented with the Chi Seok-Young Award by the Korean Intellectual Property Office for his contributions to pharmaceutical innovation.As the Founder and President of LSK BioPharma, S.C. has created and executed an enterprising vision that has positioned the company as a differentiator among other pharmaceutical companies. “There are a lot of companies developing oncology drugs,” he explains. “Some are taking a very predictable path, and others are operating with a high level of risk. Here, he made significant contributions to the preformulation-to-manufacturing process for various drug delivery forms. His work earned him the company’s Best Scientist Award.
