Never lose that sense of hope."Congressman John LewisA physician, healthcare executive, board director, and public speaker, Dr. Anderson has served in a wide variety of leadership roles in the Boston-area health care community. His non-traditional career path began by checking his neighbors blood pressure in the family medical practice started by his Jamaican immigrant father in Buffalo NY. This early imprinting created a lived understanding of the complexity of our healthcare system and what was required to make it work better for us all. As the current President and CEO of the Dimock Center, Dr. Anderson leads 500+ employees and manages a $50M organizational budget to provide inpatient, outpatient, and residential health and addiction medicine services. In addition to delivering 75k+ outpatient visits and 2,000+ inpatient and residential admissions annually, the Dimock Center provides the community with early education and care programming, a family shelter, and several homes for the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Dr. Anderson’s civic engagement includes being a member of the Massachusetts Opioid Recovery and Remediation Fund Advisory Council, and he also served on the Massachusetts Racial Inequities in Maternal Health Commission contributing to the signing of the most comprehensive maternal health legislation in the country. As a public speaker, Dr. Anderson speaks about the importance of “positive leadership” as we face the post-pandemic disruption that has introduced a new set of questions regarding the stability of the U.S. healthcare delivery system and our individual and collective roles in shaping a better future. Dr. Anderson is currently on the Board of Directors at The Boston Foundation (Finance Committee Chair), the Board of Directors at Berklee College (Chair, Berklee City Music Program), the Board of Trustees for the Boys and Girls Club of Boston, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Board of Overseers. Dr. Anderson received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and an MBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business.
