I am a systems engineer specializing in leading the design, implementation and administration of large-scale and high-performance web applications. I currently work for ShopStyle, a Rakuten company, where I lead several teams that are responsible for backend API development, messaging, infrastructure, data science, catalog, search, automation and build/release. I work closely with engineering and product development teams to build features and solve problems.My experience at Nextdoor provided me with expertise in cloud deployments. That complimented my previous IT experience, allowing me to design, implement and support the appropriate computing solution for any use case.As one of the first systems administrators at Atlassian, I built and supported a variety of internal systems throughout the company. I was also the first Atlassian engineer to work on Bitbucket after acquisition and I played a pivotal role in scaling the service.I studied Computer Science and Psychology at UC Davis and I worked there as a systems administrator and application developer after graduating. Those roles provided me with a wide range of experience early in my career, such as operations, management, computer security and compliance. Some of my fondest memories of working at UC Davis include collaborating with brilliant people, from various academic departments, on research projects.Currently my professional interests include:- Cloud deployments, specifically AWS- Backend development using Python- Automation and infrastructure as code- Team building and mentoring- Artificial intelligence
