Charles Noonan has experience in all areas of large-scale dispute resolution and, in particular, class actions, regulatory disputes, antitrust matters and international commercial arbitration. Prior to joining Maurice Blackburn, Charles was an Associate in the London office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, practising in the firm's Dispute Resolution group.Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, graduating with First Class Honours in Law and having his Honours Research Thesis published in a top-tier academic law journal. In 2016, Charles obtained the degree of Master of Law from the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Charles Allen Scholar (Cambridge Australia Scholarship) and specialised in transnational litigation, competition law, public law and jurisprudence. During his time at Cambridge, Charles was also Editor of the Cambridge Journal of International and Comparative Law.Prior to studying at Cambridge, Charles served as Associate (Clerk) to The Honourable Justice Bernard Murphy of the Federal Court of Australia. Charles also completed his training contract and practised as a solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons. He has also had various works published and has been an academic advisor to one of Australia's leading law journals. Charles was shortlisted for the Rogers Legal Writing Award in 2016 and was runner-up for the same award in 2019.In addition to having a breadth of experience in a range of commercial disputes, Charles is also an advocate of access to justice and has a raft of pro bono experience - he has been a research volunteer at the Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre, and has undertaken work for the Barristers' Animal Welfare Panel, the Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic, the Human Rights Law Centre and the Refugee Legal Service.Connect or message if you'd like to get in touch.
