The Quality Team maintains a Quality Management System that all members are willing and able to use. A QMS should work for a company, not the other way around. The Quality Team is responsible for monitoring the company's QMS and reporting findings to the President. We also prepare and deliver QHS training programs to all employees, including onboarding of new employees. The Quality Team serves as a support group. The Quality Team works closely with the Engineering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Groups to help them identify and correct quality problems. A good manager respects and leverages the knowledge of everyone. Effective management is not possible without team effort. I enjoy sharing any knowledge that will benefit the organization; equally rewarding is learning from team members at all levels within the company. The role of Risk Management (RM) in a progressive Quality System should be embraced. Risk Management (RM) can form an alliance between Quality and Operations groups because it frees up resources. RM enables us to make fact-based decisions when preventive actions are cost-effective, and equally important, when we should not tie up resources preventing less important risks. Some risks should be accepted as the cost of doing business.
