About Charles E. Polk Iii

- Dedicated team member; coachable player- Currently pursuing CIPP/E Certification- Constant learner; Growth Mindset believer- Passionate about pro-bono work- DEI advocate and aspiring ally- Searching for my next hiking adventure- Green Bay Packers fan- Former a capella group member (baritone; falsetto only to make my nephews laugh) Communication and expression have always been an imminent part of my work. Whether in college English classes or as a member of a play or musical ensemble, finding the right communication tools to reach different audiences has remained a passion. This passion for communication led me to the legal profession and is what keeps me here. In building relationships with my wide range of clients, I have learned that everyone does not have the knowledge or expertise to understand certain areas of the law. My goal then becomes to communicate complex issues, explain the law, provide details around compliance, and present a digestible and straightforward strategy. I also work cross-functionally within my firm, as coordination with multiple internal teams is required to successfully prepare for trials and other proceedings. What I have tackled in my current position: commercial contracts, commercial insurance litigation, product litigation, civil rights defense, and municipal law. What I am looking forward to tackling: I have been taking every opportunity presented to augment my understanding of privacy law, specifically how different international privacy schemes and regulations affect how entities process and store data. I started off trying to determine how these regulations affect tech and social media companies and their policies. What I have found is that no answers remain static; companies will have to pivot and adjust. Communicating these ever-changing needs and the rationale behind the changes is what makes this field so interesting. I am in the process of studying for the CIPP/E certification exam. As Chairman of Crivello's Diversity & Inclusion Committee, I help foster a culture that intertwines respect, understanding, and equity. My goal is to create systematic change that is not only spoken of but is also tangible. This is manifested by helping with hiring decisions, facilitating firm-wide learning, and reaching out to the community through firm- sponsored events.

Listed skills include Leadership, Teamwork, Public Speaking, Microsoft Excel, and 7 others.
