Prior to that, I spent 30 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, retiring in September 2009 at the rank of Captain. During that time, I served in a wide array of Navy and Joint assignments both afloat and ashore. I am is a decorated combat veteran and participated in multiple campaigns and contingency operations.I hold a B.A. from the New School for Social Research in New York, a M.A. from Montclair (NJ) State College, and an M.S. from the Defense Intelligence College in Washington DC. I am also an active member of the Mayport Navy League, Military Officers Association of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Economic Roundtable of Jacksonville. In addition, I served as an Outreach Volunteer for the United Way's Real $ense Initiative. In 2012 I was awarded the Small Business Administration Veteran Champion of the Year for Florida and Southeast Region.
