Charles R. Brown is a founding member and senior partner of Fields & Brown. Mr.Brown began developing his litigation skills in the 1980s by working as an attorneyfor the Office of State Public Defender. He was lead counsel in numerous highprofile trials, including several capital murder trials. In addition, Mr. Brown served asan assistant prosecuting attorney for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and asspecial prosecutor for Jackson County.During his 37 years of experience, he has prosecuted and defended as many jurytrials of all types as any attorney in Jackson County, Missouri.In 1987, Mr. Fields and Mr. Brown established Fields & Brown. As a result of hisvast trial experience, Mr. Brown has been involved in most of the complex litigationmatters handled by Fields & Brown during the past 25 years.Currently, Mr. Brown manages the workers’ compensation and insurance defenseareas of the firm’s practice. On average, he is responsible for overseeing more than300 open workers’ compensation and personal injury matters. As such, during thepast 37 years, Mr. Brown has tried over 100 jury trials to verdict and has conductednumerous workers’ compensation hearings. Additionally, Mr. Brown has often beenasked to provide demonstrations of various trial techniques for students at theUniversity of Missouri Kansas City School of Law.
