CurrentReport to chair of the board and work closely with the seven committees of the board of directors of the preeminent news literacy organization in the U.S. delivering e-learning curriculum and virtual professional development to nearly 15,000 educators in all 50 states each year. Oversee 7-member leadership team. Hired as the organization’s first President & COO. Promoted to president and CEO after 42 months. - Designed and successfully executed a 4-year strategic growth plan reaching national scale and building a national network of 40,000 news literacy educators. - Supported the stewardship of $10M in gifts to partially fund the 4-year strategic growth plan.- Expanded staff by 220% and budget by 200% in 4 years.- Restructured the organization, designed and implemented complete overhaul of human resources policies, initiated comprehensive DEI work and led the establishment of a talent & diversity committee on the board and a staff-led committee on maintaining organizational culture.- Led process to amend organizational bylaws that restructured the board to better align with organizational growth; established a new board member recruitment process and transitioned 4 board members.- Redesigned programmatic impact metrics to focus on measuring skills, knowledge and mindsets. - Developed and launched a second 4-year strategic plan seeking to build a national movement in education; growing the staff and budget by 50% in the first year of the plan.- Secured $12M in funding for plan in its first year with the founder and board directors. - Oversaw six consecutive years of double-digit budget growth. - Directly manage a funding portfolio of $3.25M.- Implementing a comprehensive, coalition-driven, state-level policy advocacy strategy to improve student learning mandates and develop state standards around news literacy education.- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, appearing on radio, television and in print.
