This work included implementation of mobile devices and all connectivity for Station Operations Field Workers, Engineers, and Supervisor. Managed all aspects of the Project including: project resource mobilization, business requirements development, IT infrastructure and network design, data migration and conversion, This work also included extensive training and change management for affected end users. The Project Team consisted of over 30 full time subject matter and training specialists from various vendors and Utility Client departments.

Managed multidisciplinary teams in projects that include IT technology and services assessments, requirements development, design and delivery. Accomplished in developing business and technical solutions that yield significant increases in operational efficiency and reduced costs. Selected accomplishments include:Led the implementation of a Work Management and Scheduling system for a Northeastern US Electric Utility. This work included database migration, Oracle database upgrades, new server environments, the design/build of over 60 interfaces, and training of Work Management and Scheduler Users.Implemented an $8 million GIS system for a New England Utility. In order to improve quality and meet deadlines. reorganized the project team, developed a new baseline budget and schedule, and revised contracts and relationships with vendors.Led the work to implement $20 million of IT infrastructure and services for real time monitoring of electric transmission facilities over 11 states in the Western US. This work also included coordination with 18 other electric utilities participating in the program.

Led teams to identify and expand business opportunities and sales in targeted territories and industries. Sold and managed a portfolio of services including consulting, design, and systems integration. Example projects:Led the network solution component in developing an advanced remote meter-reading solution for a major utility. The effort led to the closing of a multi-year commitment by the client to purchase up to several million dollars of network equipment and additional consulting services.Worked as a trusted advisor for a major Midwest utility and led a team of IBM consultants in assessing the client’s wireless and wireline network infrastructure and supporting organization. Assisted the CIO in developing a winning business case that resulted in a $30 million, multi-year, network infrastructure program that was consistent with established business priorities.Led the initiative for the successful sale of several million dollars of converged voice/data network products and services for new store installations at a major retailer. Conducted the initial qualification of the opportunity,led the development of the technical and financial solution and concluded negotiations with the client.

Sold and delivered network consulting and integration projects. Developed processes and intellectual capital for IBM's network consulting services and systems integration work. Example projects:Sold and led a network strategy engagement for a global provider of financial information services. Work included a review of the network operations organization, design of a converged voice over IP network and return on investment analysis, and development of a shared services strategy. The engagement recommendations led to annual savings of more than $15 million.Sold and led a network planning engagement for a major West Coast utility. Reviewed wireless and wireline network technologies, topologies, management methods, and planned projects to support the electric grid and manage the customer base. The results led to an implementation plan to refresh the network technology base. As a Principal I also worked on the subsequent successful sale of a 10,000 station IP telephony, messaging, and contact center solution for this client.Sold and led an engagement for a Phoenix-based public electric utility to implement upgrades to improve the reliability of the data network infrastructure supporting the client’s energy distribution monitoring system.

Provided network design and consulting services to energy and utility, transportation, and public safety clients. Provided business and technical consulting services to assist clients in the resale of telecommunications services and network infrastructure development. Example projects:Sold and led a three year engagement for a major New England airport to provide network design and project management services associated with a major capital construction program. Reporting directly to the CIO of a major West Coast public safety agency, led the vendor selection and implementation of a broadband fiber optic and IP network serving all division stations and tower locations.

Consulted with carriers and corporate clients on network design, federal and state regulations, and resale of communications services. Example engagements: settled a $900,000 billing dispute for a radio paging client as part of a local access agreement, designed a wide-area backhaul network that supported a nationwide public-access mobile data network.
